One of many internal contradictions...

Raffi Hovannisian on the President’s Ad Hoc Working Group

During his press conference at the National Press Club in Yerevan yesterday, Raffi Hovannisian addressed his efforts for a dialogue between Serzh Sargsyan and Levon Ter Petrossyan and the urgency to address the large number of issues that need resolution by the June deadline set by PACE.

To the question of what he expects from the Ad Hoc working group appointed by Serzh Sargsyan last week to consider the demands of PACE, and if that group will be able to come up with proposals that will address PACE demands, Raffi Hovannisian said:

That working group is a very good initiative…

But there is an internal contradiction here. The members of that working group were themselves responsible for the sphere of activities which have been criticized by the PACE resolution. They are, in a way, the subjects of the PACE resolution, and the demands of that resolution.

Therefore I don’t think that the solution will be characterized by that working group…
